Cycling is not only a good way of keeping in trim while on holiday, it

often taking you to places difficult to get to by other means.
If you are able to bring your bikes with you you will have the
convenience of being able to cycle where you want when you want and of

The main types of fishing are beach casting and deep sea fishing though
of course you could include "Peche a Main" literally hand fishing or
the collecting of shell fish from the rocks and sands at low tide.
Because of the popularity of the beaches, beach casting is usually
reserved for night time, rough weather or out of season. It is also true
that most fishermen prefer the more isolated beaches both north and
south of Les Sables d'Olonne.
Deep sea fishing is well catered for and boats that make fishing trips are listed in our section on Boat Charters in the Vendée

breaks. The main beach at les Sables is protected by the harbour
breakwater. For other beaches nearby see Surfing in the Vendée
The main beach is quite sheltered and is therefore not ideal though as
you move south towards la tanchet beach the winds are better. There are
some restrictions near the main beach in the high season on some boating
There are areas where this sport can be practiced out of the main
season though you will need the appropriate certificate.
The beach at les Sables d'Olonne is possibly the finest on the west
