This very
small village in the lay Valley west of Mareuil-sur-lay is totally
committed to the production of wine, from 450 or so residence there are
45 producers of wine, it is thought to be the highest percentage in
France. The wines that are produced were credited the VDQS (vin Delimite
de Qualite Suuperieure) but in 2011 they were upgraded to the AOC
(Appellation d'Origine Controlee). These wines regularly win top medals
in the Paris wine show, they are sold under the Fiefs Vendeens label.
The area which is on the south facing steep escarpments of Lay Valley has a wine route that is well worth following.
