River Boulogne

Sud Vendee.. Haut Bocage.. Coastal Region.. Marais Poitevin.. Marais Breton.. Bas Bocage.. Plaine.. Marais Olonne..

The River Boulogne is the only river with its source in the Vendée that does not eventually flow into the Atlantic Ocean but flows unusually into a lake.
The Source of the Boulogne is near St.Martin-des Noyers, it flows in a north and north westerly direction
passing Les Essarts and La Merlatière, then through Boulogne, and Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne. It continues northwards through Rocheservière before forming the border between the Vendée and the Loire Atlantique. It then leaves the Vendée for the last 12 kilometres of its journey into the Lac de Grand-Lieu.

There is an attractive park along side the river at Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne and this park takes in the sites of the Historial de la Vendée and the Memorial de la Vendée.

Canoes can be hired to explore the river at Rocheserviere.
