La
Pizzeria Fontenay-le-Comte
17, rue de la Republique. Tel. 02 51
69 34 46
On the rare occasions that members of my family visit me it is
nice to take them out to one of the local restaurants. Now two teenage boys do
tend to have different likes to mine when it comes to eating, so when asked what
type of food they would like they both answered pizza. Well pizzas have never
been my been my favorite, but bite the bullet I did and off to Fontenay-le-Comte
to find a suitable eating establishment. I never like to eat at the same
restaurant, that is unless it is too good to keep missing or I'm the guest of
friends and they have chosen the restaurant.
My first choice however was
closed, this being a Tuesday, but not to be put off I knew of one more Pizzeria
that I had not visited for some 15 years and I knew that it would be open.
We
arrived outside the restaurant where there was a parking space just waiting for
us. The waiter showed us to a table just by the entrance which was ideal as we
could view both the restaurant interior and the goings on out in the
street.
There was a wide choice of pizzas as well as few pasta type dishes,
but we decided to all go for the pizzas. The boys decided on a pizza Campagne
which was a base 0f tomato and cheese with lardons mushrooms and topped with a
large portion of creme frais and a pizza choriza which was standard base with
tomatoe paste and topped with choriza sausages while their mother went for the
pizza exotic which was topped with red and green peppers, ham and pineapple. I
choose the house special which as usual had a bit of everything on top including
articoke hearts, anchoves and egg.
Everyone enjoyed their pizza though they
said the bottom was a little burnt, not being an expert on pizzas I could not
comment.
The main course over deserts were then the order of the day though
believe it or not one of the boys said he didn't like sweet deserts. So the 3 of
us choose our desired desert, which was a Madamn Blanche a mixture of venilla
ice cream covered in hot chocolate and topped with chantilly cream, a pyjama
which was a creme with a slice of pineapple, peaches, oranges, a
scoop of venilla ice cream with a drizzle of red fruit couli and for myself it
was the trusted creme Brulee.
All seemed to perfectly satisfied with their
choice and quality of what they had received. The restaurant was not large and
bright but neither the less had a good ambience, the staff were friendly and
attentive and with the pizzas varying in price from 9 to 10.5€ the total bill
for 4 came to 69€ which included the deserts and drinks which while not
cheap is I suppose par for the course.
