One of the best ways to see the Marais Poitevin, and in particularly the Green Venice,
is by boat and there are several places where boats of different types
can be hired. They can be hired with or without a guide, the advantage
of a guide is that they do all the work and explain everything of
interest along the way. The advantage without a guide is the cost and
the fact that you can pick your own route and set your own pace. Types
of boats vary from the tradition flat bottom Barques to canoes, pedalos
and even electric powered boats (Maille ).
