Situated in
the Haut Bocage on the D752 between La Chataigneraie and Pouzages this pretty
village has a 15th century fortified chuch built in the gothic style,
pilgrimages are made to the "Miraculas Well de Notre Dame". The village
however is best known as the home of Rene-Antone Ferchault de Reaumur (1683 to
1757). This famous physician, the inventor of the alcohol thermometer lived here
in the Manor house that now houses the Manoir des
science de Reaumur.
