Just a few kilometers out from L'Aiguillon-sur-mer into the poulders of Triaize
is La Dive. It was once a small island in the Gulf of Picton before the
waters receded and the marshlands that were left were drained, first by
the Benedictine monks and later by Dutch engineers.
At its highest point it is barely 15 meters above sea level, but from
this point you get fantastic panoramic views of both the poulder lands
and out into the Baie de l'Aiguillon. You can easily see the remains of the old cliffs that weathered the Atlantic rollers as they came in.
