Beaches, La
Barre de Monts
The most
northerly beaches of the Vendée, other than those on the island
of Noirmoutier, come within the commune of La Barre de Monts and Fromentine.
There are 7 Kilometres of fine sandy beaches backed by dunes and a 600 hectare
pine forest.
There are 4 beaches listed and from the south they
are:
La Plage des Lays. There is car parking near the beach which
can be reached via le chemin de la Parée-Creuse. Here there is a
400 metre stretch of beach allocated to the naturist.
La Plage de la
Berbere. A short ride through the forest brings you to the car park for the
beach behind the dunes. This beach like most in this area is severely reduced at
high tide.
There is no surveillance.
La Plage de la Grande
Cote. This beach is on the peninsular formed as the coast turns in toward
Fromentine opposite the Ile de Noirmoutier. There is good parking by the
beach.
There is no surveillance.
Fromentine beach. This is a
wide stretch of beach with good facilities nearby and is a popular spot for
dingy sailors.
There is surveillance during the main season.
