ZOO AT LES SABLES D'OLONNE

The zoological gardens range over three hectares and is situated
just a couple of hundred meters from the sea at Les Sables d’Olonne. It offers
the visitor a chance to get close to over two hundred species of animals in as
realistic a reproduction of their natural habitat as is possible.
Along with the normal animals you would expect to see in a zoo such as Tigers, Elephants, Lions, Monkeys, Sea lions, Tropical birds and Reptiles, you will also find many endangered species. The zoo, in educating the public and by operating captive breeding programs is assisting in the protection of these species in the wild.
Throughout the day the keepers encourage visitors to join in and witness activities such as feeding the sea lions, otters, giraffes and countless other species.
The visitor can stroll amongst the 100 year old trees and tropical plants on paths from one enclosure to another that runs alongside the stream, or take refreshment on the terrace overlooking the park and absorb the sights and sounds of the Zoo at Les Sables d'Olonne.
