Visit the Cairn - Stone Age Museum, set in over 7 acres of parkland at Saint-Hilaire-la-Forêt near Avrille.
See how Neolithic Man built the first dwellings, made fires and discovered how to knap flint
Take part in activity workshops such as making pottery, ornaments and art or trying some Neolithic Face painting
There is something for all the family here.

This is a living museum, it is fun and educational, and you can explore the full sensation of prehistoric living by transporting yourself back 5,000 years and putting yourself in the shoes of prehistoric man. Experience making fire without matches, participate in interactive workshops, such as demonstrations of hunting, flint knapping, and visit the reconstruction of a prehistoric house and a dolmen.

In a green setting of 7 acres, you can visit a Neolithic house of mud and reed and the reconstruction of a dolmen. The interior space includes showrooms on Neolithic megaliths, audiovisual animations, models and a specialised library.
There are demonstrations of lighting fires without matches, prehistoric hunting with bow and arrows, spears and propellants, together with the techniques of moving and lifting of menhirs. You can also see the Neolithic polished stone used to make tools agricultural ploughs, sickles, hoes, axes. All of this is waiting for you to discover at Cairn, Saint Hilaire la Forêt.

The new exhibition 2011: "In Search of the Past"
Educational exhibit developed by the Museum of Science and Industry of La Villette. Who were our ancestors? What did they eat? How did they take care of themselves? What were their tools? ... In this exhibition visitors will try to answer these questions. Helped by the archaeological Kleo. Old & young can use methods and tools to make objects speak so understanding our past.
