Situated
close to the Mervent Forest just 12kms north of Fontenay-le Comte, this attractive village has an old church
and a beautiful château with a moat. The church dates from 1445 and while
renovation work was carried out in 1886 they discovered the funeral chapel,
built in the Renaissance style, of the young Marie du Puy-du-Fou. It has the
most delicate and exquisite of decorations. The Chateau was until recently
the property of the Marshal Lattre Foundation and one could walk freely around
the grounds, but now the château is in private hands and one can only view the
grounds from outside of the château gates.
