Beaches Pointe du Payre
The beaches of the Pointe du Payre are reached by taking the road from Jard-sur-Mer
past La Granges, having passed the beach of Ragounite one finally
arrives at the small car park behind the beautiful beach of La Mines.
During the season there are facilities on the beach and it also has
lifeguards on duty There are hazardous currents just off shore make
bathing very dangerous and great care should be taken when swimming.
North of the main beach is the nature reserve of the Pointe du Payre
and the walks through the forest or along the cliff top are extremely
rewarding. On reaching the northern end, one is at the entrance of the
River Payre, and across the estuary is the beautiful beach of Veillon ,
although the beaches on either side of the estuary are equally
spectacular. The golden sands continue almost to the port of La
Guitiere, this is a truly magnificent area. The estuary creates strong
currents and eddies and great care should be taken while swimming.
