Naturist Beaches of the Vendée

For those
who wish to be at one with nature the beaches of the Vendée have a lot
to offer. With 146kms of beaches and 2500 hours of sunshine a year it's
not difficult to see why the Vendée rates so highly amongst enthusiasts
of naturism.
There are two types of beaches for the nauturist, the official naturist
beaches and those where, although they are not designated for naturism,
it is tolerated.
Below are listed those that we are aware of although it would be true to
say that you can expect any quiet stretch of beach away from the main
tourist areas to be used by naturists.
La Faute sur Mer. On the point d'Arcay at la Plage de Barrique there is an official naturist beach.
La Terrier. In the commune of la Tranche sur Mer there is an unofficial area some 200 meters north of the entrance.
Les Conches
in the commune of Longville sur Mer. There is a long stretch of
beach running south towards la Terrier. It is not authorised but is
tolerated
Sauveterre is another expansive golden sandy beach
backed by dunes, about 7kilometres west of Olonne-sur-Mer There
are signs marking the official naturist section of the beach, although
nudists are often found on the textile area of the beach too. There is a
large car park nearby and a couple of bars on the beach, but no
toilets. This is an official beach that is reached by turning at the
traffic lights in Olonne-sur-Mer just before the Sauveterre camp site
and following the signs to the beach (Plage). The road winds through the
pine forest and is littered with numerous shaded picnic areas en-route.
There is a large car park on the forest side of the dunes and this gets
very busy during peak holiday times with late arrivals having to park
along the access road. Follow the usual boardwalk over the dunes and the
naturist beach (plage naturiste) is signposted to the right of the
beach access.
Le Petit Pont.
This is an authorised beach at Notre Dames de Dunes in the commune or
Bretignollies sur mer. Access is from rue de la Grande Sauzaies near the
village of Grivand and from camping Cypress near the Pont de Jaunay.
Les Salins. Beach authorised 500 meters of beach that is signposted the beach near the grande Bec just south of St.Jean de Monts.
Les Lays
in the commune of Barre de Monts.Beach Autorised for Naturist. 7 km of
isolated beach, access from the Chemin de la Paree-Creuse parking can be
a problem.
Luzeronde on the ile de Noirmoutier. Beach Authorised for Naturist. 4 Km of beach acess at either end of beach.
