Le Rocher is
in the commune of Longeville-sur-Mer which despite its name is some way from the
beach, It is the end of the 8 kilometres of beaches that run north from
La Tranche sur Mer and include the beaches of La
Terriere and Les Conches . Le Rocher as its name suggests is the start of a
rocky patch of coastline. It is less sheltered by the Ile de Ré, and because of
that and the rocks off-shore seaweed can collect along this beach after a
storm.
There are number of shops, cafes and restaurants close to the
beach and there is a large car park almost on the beach. It is easy to find
being off the D105, which runs from La Tranche-sur-Mer to
Longville-sur-Mer.
