Situated 10km south of La Roche-sur-Yon on the D747 and within easy reach of both the motorway and the coast.
It is a good example of Romanesque architecture in the twelfth century .
It is a simple temple, the Latin cross . The nave has three bays
covered with small cross- vault. A spiral staircase ( which obviously
has not been altered since the origin of the building ) begins in the
choir and leads to the belfry . From the original construction , it
remains the main facade, the transept and the bell tower. The decor
consists essentially of a 1650 altarpiece carved in the choir. It
represents St.Lawrence, the patron of the parish, and was restored in
2002. In the nave, there are two side panels dating from the eighteenth
century and a wooden crucifix from the early seventeenth century.
Despite its simplicity, the Church of Aubigny deserves a detour and
Fete des Metiers. A fete of craftsmen from yester year and from today.
Held (2010) on the 7th and 8th of August it is two days when not only
