Attractions Mervent Forest
The
Forest of Mervent offers a wealth of attractions, most are based around
the natural landscape and cover everything from walking and cycling in
this pristine environment to climbing, sailing, canoeing, swimming,
adventure park, beaches and even a zoo. Below we have listed many of
these with links to pages for fuller details.
Mervent adventures The Parc d'acrobaties. 34 Chemin du Chene Tord. 70 games and activities up in the trees with 4 courses of varying difficulty to find your limits, test your courage and agility.
Natur'Zoo. Small and interesting zoo with over 500 animal in a 5 hectare park.
Base Nautique.
Hiring of sail and electric boats, canoes and Kayaks. An ideal way to
explore the lakes of the forest, or hire a mountain bike and explore the
many well marked cycle paths.
Pierre Brune.This Fun park has entertained children for many years and is the largest fun park in the south Vendée
Beach at Chassenon. The beach with water slides and boats for hire is open in July and August.
La Jamoniere Eco-museum and pond.
The Grande Perrure. Teaching farm and retro park.
Rock climbing at Pierre Blanche. Though mainly for beginners, experienced climbers also use this area for experimenting.
Mervent.
Mervent is an attractive and interesting village with several vantage
points for panoramic views of the forest and lakes.
Vouvant. At the north end of the forest this village is rated as one of the prettiest villages in France.
Vinyards of Pissotte. The wines of Pissotte are sold under the label of Fiefs Vendéen and from 2011 carry the AOC stamp of quality.
Amis de la Forest. Ouillieres. A small museum on the ecology of the forest
Chateau la Citardiere. Ouillieres Pleasant little moated castle. Part of which is a creperie.
