Attractions of General Interest
Listed below are those attractions that may be of a more general interest, they may also be covered in other sections.
Aquariums.There are two aquariums in the Vendee. The Aquarium Le 7th Continent at Talmont st.Hilaire and Sealand on the Ile de Noirmoutier
Miniature Village; there are three miniature villages in the Vendée. The Mini-Ville at L'Epine on the Ile de Noirmoutier and the Feerie Santons at Beaulieu-sous-la-Roche and Vendée Miniature at Bretignolles-sur-mer.
Railways. The Steam train at Montagne-sur-sèvre is the only one in the Vendée.
Horse attractions. The National stud at la-Roche-sur-You is both educational and entertaining, Chaval Parc at Sallertaine including the roundup and other entertainments and the Donkey farm at Beauvoir-sur-mer are other attractions.
Farm Animals in general including horses can be found at Animaux de la Ferme at Avrille
Water Towers. There are two that are open to the public which you can climb to the top for a magnificent panoramic view. The water tower of Kulmino at Notre-Dame-de-Monts also has education and entertainment on the theme of water. The water tower at Apremont has views over the bas bocage.
Boat excursions. Whether on the sea, the rivers,the salt marshes, Marais Breton or the Marais Poitevin there are a large variety of outlets that cater for your needs. For a detailed list for the area you wish to visit, it is best to enquire at the local tourist office, as the list below is by no means complete.

La Tranche-sur-Mer. Croisiers Inter iles leaves from the pier.

Les Sables d'Olonne. Day trips and fishing trips, plus charter yachts.
St Gilles Croix de Vie. Excursions and fishing trips and ferry crossings to the Ile d'Yeu
Fromentine. Day trips and ferry crossings to the Ile d'Yeu,
Flying. You can get a bird's-eye view of the Vendée by taking advantage of flights over the Vendée or by Hot Air Ballon
Theme Parks.The best known of these is the Puy-du-Fou which consists of the day time Grand Parc du Puy-du-Fou and the night time spectacular of the Cinescenie.
Other parcs with a theme include the Parc des Dune and Atlantic Toboggan base around water games and fun. Feeling forest, Indian Forest and Pierre Brune which are adventure and fun parcs.
Historical Monuments. These include the many Chateaux and churches to be found in the Vendee, also you may wish to visit the many museums, cultural and educational sites.
Markets. Visit the many colourful markets of the Vendee
